Welcome to the Next Chapter

WeaveTales has officially merged with Refugee Congress. We are excited to continue amplifying the voices of refugees and forcibly displaced people, reach new communities, and make a deeper impact together. Stay tuned for more updates!

New Chapter, Same Mission

Founded in 2019 by longtime Refugee Congress member and Honorary Delegate Basma Alawee, WeaveTales has trained hundreds of immigrants to share their stories with power and purpose. This transition is an expansion of that mission.

By merging with Refugee Congress, WeaveTales' storytelling programs will continue to support leaders with lived experience, deepen our advocacy, and elevate New American voices at every level — from local communities to national policy conversations.

All of WeaveTales' stories, resources, and program history are now part of the Refugee Congress family. We're honored to carry this work forward.

Join the New American Speakers Program!

The New American Speakers Program (NASP) is our signature program dedicated to training newcomers to share their experiences of forced displacement and integration in their new community, work, and school environments to meet the growing need for trained leaders to speak in public venues.
