A storytelling exhibit celebrating the diversity of cultures and communities in North Florida

“As we fulfill our mission of the knowledge, discovery, and advancement of the art, artists and ideas of our time, it is critical to include the voices of all community members in these conversations.”

—Matthew Patterson, Director of Education at MOCA Jacksonville

Journey to Florida is an exhibit highlighting the stories of our immigrant and refugee neighbors in North Florida. Currently the exhibit features the stories of 14 people from 12 countries who now call Florida home. Each story reflects aspects of the challenges immigrants and refugees face in their migration journey, the resilience and courage they characterize, and the contributions they make to their newfound communities. Through the exhibit, WeaveTales aims to give strength to the voices and experiences of refugees and immigrants, as well as to educate the public in order to create more understanding, welcoming and safer communities.

WeaveTales is proud to have partnered with local organizations and universities in hosting the Journey to Florida exhibits. Since created in 2021, the exhibits have been featured at:

  • ArtSee & Shop Gallery

  • University of North Florida
